    £6.75£36.00

From the same farmer that supplied us this tea’s spring version we now have the Autumn one. We purchased the whole production.  4 kilos in total. Due to the small amount we kept the yellow flakes (huang pian) and adjusted the price accordingly. The result is a really tasty tea. The mouthfeel is amazing, mellow and sweet with almost caramel notes but not quite. Pleasant aftertaste. A tea that can both be aged and drank now.

This tea is a xiaoshu production from tea trees planted in early 2000’s in the prestigious Chawangshu area of Guafengzhai.

Note: The date on the back of cake wrapper reads March which was a factory’s mistake. This is an Autumn production, not Spring.

A sweet tea with a peach/pear cooling aftertaste. It also has a nice caramel-like flavour, perhaps due to its thick texture and sweetness. I really like the fact that this tea has more than one facet. The mouthfeel is a really enjoyable sweet experience and then the aftertaste brings out yet different flavours. After drinking this tea for 3 days in a row and trying to find the best way to describe it, I reached a conclusion:

    I rather like Ge Dengs!

  • 2013 Chen Xi Hao – Gao Shan Zhai

    £19.00£160.00

This is a very thick, sweet and slightly creamy tea with some raisins and vanilla in its initial infusions. It then turns into a sweet caramel profile that reminds me of my primary school days when old ladies in the neighbourhood would tempt us with some homemade caramel candies. Whenever I really like a puer, childhood memories and flavours pop to my mind. I can’t think of a better compliment.

It has been expertly aged in Xishuangbanna for 6 years and it is a very clean tasty sheng puer with incredible stamina. You can expect 20 infusions with this tea.

In the spring 2019, before heading to Kunming, we visited several tea shops for a week or so in the gigantic Beijing Maliandao. That effort paid out: this Duo Yi Zhai cake was the winner.

Duo Yi Zhai is the-highest-altitude puer growing village in Nannuo. This tea is a bit mysterious to us. It was pressed by a farmer who didn’t include his name or brand on the wrapper so we can really just talk about the cake itself. Of course that’s what matters after all.

Very well dry stored tea in Beijing with wonderful flower, hay, peach yogurt and bread complex notes. Very strong aftertaste. This cake may not come with wonderful story attached to it and honestly it doesn’t need one. It’s a special tea. We recommend it.
